Kingfisher Federation Gets Creative
May 8, 2024
At Kingfisher Federation, the schools, Ditchingham Primary School, Gillingham St Michaels Primary School and Earsham Primary Academy have worked hard to develop a curriculum to best meet the needs of mixed age classes, that is suitably challenging and allows all to shine.
During their time in the Kingfisher Federation, pupils experience a rich, varied art and design curriculum that allows them to build their skills over time. It also allows them to explore their creativity as they are given the courage to respond to different stimuli. One important aspect of the curriculum is introducing the children to the work of a range of artists. They learn about the artist themselves and have a go at producing their own work in response the work of that artist.
During the spring term children across the Federation had a fabulous time exploring their chosen artist and preparing a piece to go on display as part of our art gallery week.
Each school now has a fantastic display that has been admired by all. It has been lovely to invite families in to view the work and encourage the children to explain the process they went through to produce it.
Executive Headteacher, Mrs Heather Brand said: “It has been wonderful to see the creativity and individuality on display. Each school is a riot of colour and expression, and the children are rightly proud of their work. Much of our art curriculum is delivered by our fantastic support staff who have all gone above and beyond to support the children to make great progress with their art and ensure that they are able to shine.”
