His Majesty King Charles III opens school library in Norfolk
January 8, 2024
Pupils and staff were beyond excited to welcome His Majesty King Charles III to Flitcham Church of England Primary Academy on January 5th 2024 to visit the school and open its new library, named The Coronation Library in his honour.
Flitcham Primary Academy, is a Church of England Primary, run by the Diocese of Norwich Educational Academies Trust (DNEAT). It is nestled in the beauty of the Sandringham Estate in West Norfolk and is part of the Sandringham Federation of schools.
The whole school was delighted to welcome His Majesty King Charles III. His Majesty met with pupils, staff and members of the school community who had been involved in the library project.
Mrs Gardener, Executive Headteacher said: “It was a delightful way to celebrate this wonderful new addition to our school facilities and we were all so honoured that His Majesty opened the new library for us.”
Having identified a lack of library facilities at the school the Diocese of Norwich Educational Academies Trust had invested in a new log cabin style building, built by local builders Anglia Log Cabins to house a purpose-built library.
The Norfolk Children’s Book Centre, was commissioned by the PTA to provide a complete overhaul service of all the books within the school and to supply new books for any gaps identified. The school’s PTA, ably led by Mrs Haire, worked tirelessly with many fundraising events to raise over £3000, which was spent on the refurbishment and supply of new books. Children have been very excited to be able to choose from the latest selection of both fiction and non-fiction texts, taking books home to read and being able to read books in school to support class studies.
The Sandringham Federation of schools are thankful for their close association both with the local churches and the Royal Sandringham Estate.
