February 21, 2025

On Thursday 21st November, Kessingland CofE Primary Academy celebrated a very special occasion with the opening of it’s new Sid the Snake Friendship Bench, an initiative aimed at fostering kindness and support among pupils. The ceremony was attended by representatives from the local parish council, school staff, and excited Year 6 House Captains, who will now have a dedicated space to sit and make new friends.
The event was marked by speeches from parish council members, who praised the school’s commitment to creating a nurturing environment. Miss Egleton, Headteacher, offered prayers of thanks. Mr. Sid James, Chair of the Kessingland Parish Council eagerly cut the ribbon, officially opening the bench to the school family. The day continued with a delightful tea party, where everyone came together to celebrate the success of the project and the power of friendship.
The Friendship Bench is a symbol of the school’s ultimate aim: to ensure every child feels included and supported. This collaborative effort between the school and parish council promises to be a lasting positive influence on the children’s social development.
