We are looking for an amazing person to join our dedicated and hardworking team at our dynamic and busy two-form entry church school.

We have a reputation for supporting children with SEN and/or SEMH through our inclusive Christian ethos. This was reflected in our Ofsted and SIAMs inspections. Part of our provision includes an enhanced provision support class for children with Autism Spectrum Condition. They receive a high quality curriculum within a mixed age small group and work towards integrating with their peers back in their main class for some lessons over the week or towards gaining a place at specialist schools.

We value our staff team who are creative, flexible and committed to improving the life chances of our children.

Our children attend the support often because they have ASC and find the main stream class room too challenging. They are accessing the EYFS curriculum through continuous provision and discrete one to one and small groups. There will be a high level of staff- to children and a maximum of 12 children in the provision. Our children need staff who will love them, whatever their challenges, but will also have high expectations, be compassionate, fair and consistent in approach. While it will not be an easy job, it will be incredibly rewarding.

The ideal person will;

  • Have experience in, or a passion for working with students with Autism within an EP/SRB environment
  • Have experience of and knowledge of the early years curriculum and how to provide engaging environments and move learning on through engaging interactions with children.
  • Have knowledge or understanding of how to apply therapeutic interventions within a ASC context
  • Have experience, training in or at least awareness of ACEs, Trauma Informed Practice or Step on Norfolk training
  • Be flexible, proactive and patient
  • Be nurturing in their approach and interventions
  • Be able to communicate effectively within a team
  • Be committed to working full time
  • Have a Background in Education, Care, Social work, Psychology or Drama, as these are very transferable.

You will work as part of a talented and passionate team supported by the SENDCo and Inclusion Lead.

Culture and ethos:

  • Proactively promote and demonstrate the Diocese’s vision and values in all aspects of work
  • Challenge, motivate and empower others to set high aspirations and attain ambitious outcomes
  • Treat everyone as a valued individual who is loved by God
  • Promote and demonstrate a culture of continuous improvement which includes keeping abreast of educational developments and best management practice
  • Work collaboratively developing the concept of family across the Trusts and their academies
  • Ensure regular open and honest communication in all professional duties
  • Recognise the importance of serving the wider community and promoting inclusivity.
  • Undertake such other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the grade.

The duties and responsibilities highlighted in this job specification are indicative and may vary over time.  Postholders are expected to undertake other duties and responsibilities relevant to the nature, level and scope of the post and the grade has been established on this basis.
